Short Memories

In November, I posted some information from a letter written by Robert Forsyth which I obtained through my Grandmother. It lists the siblings of my Grandmother's father, John Forsyth, and the siblings of her Grandfather, John Forsyth; both of these men and their spouses are buried at the Falkenburg Union Cemetery.
I had assumed that Grandma's aunts and uncles did not immigrate to Canada when her father came in the 1860's. I had this impression because John Forsyth Jr.'s obituary states that he came to Canada with his parents, with no mention of the other siblings.

The letter from Robert contains the names and dates of death of her father's brothers and sister. What it does not contain are the names of their spouses or where they lived. This seems very odd to me because my Grandmother's aunt, Alison McNee, lived very close by and the aunt died when Jessie was about twenty years old. There is no mention that the brothers, Charles and Robert, lived in Ontario. I never heard my mother mention these people, although she did mention Grandma's sisters who lived in the Toronto area.

I can only assume that the focus of my Grandmother's notes was the lineage of her own family and not the various branches.

I was at the library yesterday and confirmed the whereabouts of the siblings of John Forsyth Jr. and found death certificates to confirm their parentage.
